DMS Consulting – Bid Analysis

Most likely your first reaction when you receive a bid for an upgrade to your DMS system is, “do we need all this?”  For some dealerships, the answer is easy; yes, the upgrade is required because it has what you need to continue doing business.  Often the manufacturer is requiring a new interface that doesn’t work with your old system – or your DMS provider is no longer going to support your existing version. In that case, you have to upgrade and if your proposal is merely the latest version of the same software, then we do a simple bid analysis with suggested pricing for $895.00.  We need your new bid and your latest monthly support billing.

DMS Consulting – Bid Analysis, New Features

Often your bid is not a simple “apples to apples” upgrade and the DMS provider has proposed new software and features along with their newest version.  As an accountant, I will analyze these new features and question the return on the investment and provide a reasonable price for the upgrade.  I will carefully analyze your current billing to your new proposal and question any differences.  My final report will most likely be quite negative and will be a challenge to your sales representatives if you decide to present it to them.  Of course, you wouldn’t even be reading this if they had done their job and properly sold you on the value of this upgrade.  This report is $1800.00.

DMS Consulting – Bid Analysis, Complicated with Negotiations

Are you the type of person who would like an advocate in this process?  A complicated bid analysis means that the DMS provider is informed that I will be helping to negotiate this proposal with you.  I will be questioning their pricing of motivation in proposing various changes and features.  Since I do have my own DMS system coming out in a few years,  they might refuse to deal with me, but if you insist, they will have no choice.  In addition, your employees will know that I will be asking questions via email about the proposed features.  For example I might question a sales or BDC manager about the current CRM process or software if the new proposal contains CRM software.  I need to make sure you’re ready for this feature BEFORE you buy it.  This final report will contain not only my analysis – but my final recommendation of what you should get and what you should pay.  The price for this is $3500.00.

If we feel strongly that you should stay on your existing system, we'll give you the reasons why
and for how long --but we’ll still
recommend my top 2-3 alternative systems.
